      Account Manager Interview

      Nov 16, 2024
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Intuit in Aug 2024

      Interview

The initial interview with the recruiter was excellent, he was great and passed me along to the next round. 2nd round was good as well, 30 minutes straight to the point was excited to pass me along to the final round. This is where the process went sideways, I was pushed off for 3 weeks to do a 90-minute presentation with a "Senior Director" of sales and Solutions consulting who had been with the company for a few months, This was the final decision-making round and I wouldn't be on either of these decisions maker's teams. I did a 90-minute presentation via Zoom including a PowerPoint presentation, role-played a discovery sales call and Q&A for these guys, and was told it went great. They would have no reservations about hiring me and would follow up with the next steps within 48 hours, a week and a half later I got an email from the initial recruiter telling me that they were changing the role from more of an account management focus to a prospecting focus. I got the impression (My recruiter confirmed this) during the interview that the management team didn't know what they wanted or were doing and was using the 90-minute presentations to figure out how to build out a fledgling account management organization with QuickBooks without needing to pay for any outside consulting. Overall I was not impressed by the process.

I met with a recruiter and he talked through the job and asked about my experience. Since I had no sales experience, he said I would need to start out in LTR and take a massive pay cut.

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Intuit (San Francisco, CA)

      Interview

The interview process was quite extensive and required a significant time investment. I was asked to create a PowerPoint presentation to pitch myself to the leadership team, which took about five hours to prepare and rehearse. While I appreciated the opportunity to showcase my skills, the follow-up was disappointing. After the interview, I received no communication from the interviewers and had to reach out multiple times to the hiring manager who initially contacted me. Ultimately, I was informed that they had “decided to go in another direction,” without any constructive feedback. Given the effort I put into the presentation, a more thoughtful response would have been appreciated. In hindsight, I’m glad I didn’t receive an offer, as the experience gave me insight into the company’s communication style and culture, which I don’t believe would have been the right fit for me.
