      Application

I applied through university. I interviewed at HSBC (Hong Kong)

      Interview

I've just finished my second year at Aston University,UK. Initially uploaded my CV and Cover letter along with my university transcripts etc. I thought the next stage would be an online test, however I got an email saying I would be having a telephone interview. Telephone interview: Was difficult at times. The first question the woman asked me was have I got any experience in writing computer language. (Note: On the job role it stated that it was optional). I didn't have any, she then said that unfortunately I won't be sutible for the job and I may not have the skills which was kind of made me think that I may not be offered the job anyway, she asked me if i wanted to continue and I said yes. So throughout the interview she asked me about: - HSBC values - What are my strengths/weaknesses - where do I see myself in 4 years - Give me examples of when you... etc So, I just gave it my all in this and really emphasized my points in every question just hoping she may be convinced however not expecting much as I knew that I wouldn't be offered the job regardless. During the phone interview she didn't seem very convinced and just kept going onto the next question very quickly, maybe that was how she reacted usually. Anyway, fast forward 1.5 months, received an email 2 days ago saying that I have secured a final interview for the programme and that it is on Tuesday 22nd June. It will involve behavioral type questions so just preparing for them. For me as I live in the UK it will be a telephone one again as opposed to the other candidates who live in Hong Kong where they will be having it face to face. My tip is not give up and give it your all, I honestly thought that as I didn't even have the preferred 'skills' for the job, I would be rejected. I'll update you all on my progress and tell you how it goes. Once in a lifetime opportunity and its a something i'm not going to give up on so easily!
