Mission: At Capital One, we dare to dream, disrupt and deliver a better way for our customers, the financial industry and for each other.

Capital One – Why Work For Us?

Capital One® Financial Corporation is an international financial services company known for innovation in the credit card marketplace. With offices in Toronto and Montreal, Capital One Canada has been offering Canadian consumers a range of competitive credit cards since 1996.

Our Software Studio, located in Toronto, is the digital heart of Capital One® Canada, and we’re assembling the best team in the tech industry to build bold digital experiences that are rooted in user-centered design. We challenge ourselves to see the world through the eyes of our customers, so we can deliver the market leading products and exceptional service they’re looking for.

Every choice we make at Capital One® is guided by our values:

  • Excellence—defines the way we perform as individuals, teams, and an organization.
  • Do the Right Thing—describes how we interact with each other and our customers.

Our values serve as the cornerstone of our culture and guide how our associates interact with each other and our customers.

We balance, work, life, and play!

Having a healthy work/life balance – and fun – is very important to us. That's why we have a flexible work environment instead of a rigid 9-to-5 schedule. And with designated fun days, ping pong and foosball tables, board games and video game consoles, you'll find that play is as integral as work here.

We’re also very committed to making a difference in the communities in which we live, work and play by giving back through volunteering and fundraising.

Oh, and we're light on ego, so you won't find any power suits here. We're a lot more comfortable in business casual – especially at our on-site barista lounge.

I have been working at Capital One full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

I've been at Capital for a few years now and my three favorite things about it are:

    1. The culture - it's a work hard play hard, informal environment that centers around pushing associates to take full ownership of their space to drive value; there's also a big emphasis on career development, I've already played three different roles in my time here and I've always had the support and space to ramp up and learn.

    2. The people - tied closely to the culture, this a big team who really rallies together for the sake of our customers; I've learned so much from my peers, team, managers, and leaders over the years: everything from tactical skills, to being an effective leader

    3. The resiliency: the company has been growing a lot and with that comes a lot of change; the leadership team is not afraid to make bold transformations to meet the needs of the market and keep up with the industry; it's been a great experience being part of such big changes and watching them unfold over the years.

    Cons

Of course, no place is perfect.

At the end of the day, this is a big organization and with that comes a little bit of difficulty in getting things done. It's definitely not as bad as other big organizations - specially in the financial industry - and it's something we are working to resolve. It does get better the more we try!
