      Financial Advisor Interview

      Jan 26, 2015
      Anonymous employee
      Nowhere, OK
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 8 weeks. I interviewed at Edward Jones (Nowhere, OK)

      Interview

Very detailed. I'm a customer and clicked on the job tab while looking at my account sent a note, and was quickly contacted by a recruiter. After a few questions with a recruiter, I was sent a tab to apply on-line. Again, a quick note saying that they liked the initial information and I was invited to continue. I was also invited to a recruiting event that I did attend and enjoyed! Overall, I went through several steps including on-line applications, face-to-face interview with a local advisor, a telephone interview with a recruiting manager, and a "Day in the Life" simulation. About an hour after completing the "Day in the Life" simulation, I was called and told that I passed and an offer would be extended within a few days. I received the offer and I was happy with it. I'll be making far less this year than I have in years in my former career due to the training period but the earnings potential once a "go live" date is given is limited only by myself. From first contact to the offer being received was about 8 weeks.

      Question 1

Nothing really unexpected or anything that I haven't been asked before. The "Day in the Life" had a few curves thrown at me but I won't pass that on as I'd like to protect the integrity of the exercise.

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Edward Jones

      Interview

Interview process first consists of numerous dinner events, all very laid back where you get to learn more about the company and the advisors in the region, and they get to learn more about you. If you keep getting invited back to dinners, consider it progress in the interview process. Honestly, the best, most effective interview process.

      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Edward Jones (Vancouver, WA)

      Interview

it's a series of interviews with people in the office then a full-day of simulating the role of the advisor where you're receiving calls from clients and team mates as well as receiving emails. As a career-changer, this was the part of the interview phase where I realized Edward Jones wasn't the right start to my career as a financial advisor and ended up going somewhere that invested in my growth rather than a "sink or swim" type of place.
