      Interview

Unless you have product manager experience, DO NOT waste time on this interview process. They are looking for very very specific answers following some script they have and unless you hit buzz words for what they are looking for, it won’t work out. -phone call with recruiter to go over the role and interview process (~20-30 mins) -prep call with recruiter before mini case (~30-45 mins) -mini case (45-60 mins) -prep call with recruiter before power day (-45-60 mins) -power day consisting of 4 interviews: product skills, product design, behavioral, business analyst case (~4.5 hours) I think I also prepped for some ridiculous amount of time like 3 hours a day for 1.5 weeks to make sure I am prepared only to get feedback that I didn’t have product manager experience (which no where on my resume did it say I did!). They obviously play some type of numbers game to plug and chug candidates even if they’re not serious about them. Power Day Comments: -Product skills: 2 on 1 panel to discuss product experience, one of the directors arrived late and was fidgeting with his computer the ENTIRE time since it wasn’t working lmao not even sure they paid attention to the entire presentation. No real guidance at all on how to steer convo - kinda like open mic where you just say whatever you want. They ask a bunch of product manager related questions even if you don’t have direct product manager experience (which again is off some script they have making no sense if they allow non-PMs to interview) -Product Sense: go through pain points and brainstorm solutions, interviewer looked genuinely disinterested, was on her phone most of the time -Behavioral: this one was actually the most enjoyable one to get to know hiring manager. felt like the most unscripted human like experience -Business Analyst case: the most scripted interview portion, you can make a good analysis but if not in their script, you won’t get points lol so make sure you read their minds correctly in this one! Overall, this process was overly complex, poorly designed for working professionals and felt like a total waste of time. @Cap One - if you’re not paying us for our time, please shorten the process and be reasonable. Demanding someone to take off an entire day for the power day is just simply ridiculous.

      Interview

The interview process was smooth overall. It started with a computer screening, followed by a 30-minute recruiter call focused on my experience and fit with Capital One. Then I had a one-hour “money case” discussing a Capital One product from different angles. I’ve now moved to the PowerDay round, which includes two product cases, one product skills round, and one product discovery round.
