I applied through university. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at CIBC
Interview
30 minute interview however questions were quite unexpected. The questions were mostly based on M&A and the merger model rather than typical valuation and accounting questions expected. Also more casual than anticipating.
Met with two current investment banking analysts. They were overall very nice and helpful when I got stuck. The first 15 minutes were very standard behavioural and "Tell me about yourself" questions. The latter half was a range of technical questions, including DCF caveats, conceptual accretion/dilution questions, and more.
