I applied online. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at CDW (Shelton, CT) in Aug 2019
Interview
Hirevue Interview first-
Two weeks later was a 1 hour webex interview with hiring manager
Following week- 1/2 hour interview over phone with hiring mgr’s boss.
2 weeks later was an on-site interview with another manager (but did not manager team that I was interviewing for). He told me during the interview that my resume was impressive and I had all the qualifications the job required and that they would make their decision the following week and I would hear back.
A week passes and I follow up with recruiter. I am contacted by a completely different recruiter who tells me that she has emailed and called me (no emails or calls received)- then states that manager is on vacation and decision was not made, I should hear back the next week.
Another week passes and still no word- I follow up again Friday morning with a phone call to the latest recruiter. She did not return my call.
Monday morning I received a VERY GENERIC email stating that I was not selected to move forward for an interview and thank you for your time.
This was very disappointing to make it that far into the process- 2.5 hours of interviews, meeting and speaking to 4 different people and I receive a rejection email so generic! My advice to management and recruiting would be that if a candidate took the time and went though the process- be respectful for their time and interest by not sending a canned email.
It felt very insulting to be rejected so generically.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
How do you build relationships with co-workers?
How do you prioritize and meet deadlines?
I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at CDW (Peterborough, England) in Apr 2017
Interview
2 stage interview competency based and review of job role, try to use Situation, task, action result if you can to give response. Be prepared for them to five a lot of detail about the job but research the company first as they ask what you know about them.
I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at CDW (Chicago, IL) in Mar 2017
Interview
1st Stage: Phone Interview/Email
2nd Stage: HireVue (Video Recorded) Interview
3rd Stage: Excel Assessment (this position works extensively with Excel - reporting)
3rd Stage: In Person Interview with Program Manager of Sales
First three stages were simple and quick, but the actual in-person interview was the worst. The guy interviewing me wasted 2 hours of my time, only spending 15 minutes tops (if that) regarding actual interview questions. The rest of the time consisted of casual chatting, mostly him yapping about his previous jobs and hobbies---extremely unprofessional and at times, offensive (surprised he felt comfortable enough to use an ethnic slur to describe my father when I told him where he was from).
The interviewer could have cared less about interviewing me for the position, which could've easily been misconstrued for already nailing the position and your future manager getting to know you better. It took 2 weeks for the recruiter to let me know he went with someone else, BUT, wanted to know if I (a current Contract Analyst) was interested a Manager's Assistant position (aka Secretary), because they use Excel too.......
No. Thank. You.
