      Collections Specialist Interview

      Aug 22, 2019
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Box

      Interview

The hiring process was a mess- also very lengthy, it took over a month to hear back from the first interview. First, there was a call with a recruiter, 30 minutes long. Then, a second 30 minute call scheduled a week or so later with the Hiring Manager if you make it through the first round. Then, a 3 hour panel interview during your third week. If all that is a success- then you will have to submit 2-3 references. Here are my cons and personal experiences: After the two phone calls, they’ll send you a dropbox link of instructions to review prior to the 3 hour panel interview- one pdf with instructions that parking will be validated. Upon getting to the office, not a single person honored the $30 parking validation via the PDF they send out. So Austin nites- be aware. PDF company policy will most likely not be followed. Not my interviewer nor the front desk could help me. Then, the interview panel included people who barely spoke about their work or what they truly did. One interviewer spoke about how stressed they were and how alone they felt in the position. There was one interviewer who talked about personal issues that made me raise my eye about how the company values its employees. The rest? I got claps and an outstanding feel from all others. I believe highly in technology-and have the experience needed for a job like this. After the interview ended though, I was surprised to know I had to pay $30 out of pocket for it. I was also surprised to know a week later the team wanted to move forward and they wanted references (references were not a big deal). With other jobs on the line, this process moved incredibly slow. It didn’t help that during this wait, I found out internally from someone that my references were not responding. One email of theirs went to Spam- I was not followed up with. I had to follow up myself. Word to interviewees: Make sure to follow Federal law and request copies of everything your references say- because there is a chance they don’t let you know if your references aren’t responding- nor a due date for when they need a response. In addition: I got an email from one of them about my parking validation- saying they could only validate $20 worth. They sent me in this email, another pdf link with another Box interview process sheet- this one says they validate up to $30 for travel parking/uber expenses. But only $20 for me? I still have yet to receive reimbursement. It is over a month later- as someone applying for the role of a Collection Specialist- I would hope that 1. PDF’s are read and treated as Company Policy. It is a poor sign if a company fails to read what they are sending out. And 2.) Please reimburse people. People looking for jobs should never be taken advantage of- especially for a company as wealthy as Box. Then, after a lot of silence, after the 4th week, I was followed up again with a brief phone call from the Recruiter who said that my references were Great! But an internal Boxer raised their hand and wanted the role, and as a company, Box wants to promote internal employees versus hire from the outside. This was 2 weeks ago. As of now- the job post is still up. I believe they may not have not hired for this role. It took over 4 weeks just to decide if they could move forward with me. They made me feel like I was perfect for the role-and I thought so too-- but as a company, the interview process had many loop holes, poor management, and their employees were confused about their roles and jobs themselves during the interview process
