      Human Resources Director Interview

      Jun 7, 2016
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Kuala Lumpur
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at American Express (Kuala Lumpur) in Jan 2016

      Interview

It was a lengthy interview process. Went through 5 rounds of interviews of which 4 was via phone and 1 was face to face with the current HRD who was being relocated. Interviews was scheduled on a weekly basis and everyone seemed to be consistent on what they were looking for. The interview itself was very informal and more on a get to you know basis. Like most companies, the initial stages of the interview moves fast, but it tends to slow down as you get closer to the end. What I would have like is to have had the opportunity to know where I could have improved on and have not been left in the dark for 2 weeks to only find out that they have decided to proceed with an internal applicant for that role. It would be great if companies can be up front and state the obvious then to keep holding back unfavorable news to the applicants. This should be applied to all companies, not just Amex.

      Question 1

Their focus was on building the brand in this location and increasing their popularity among the Gen Y segment. So they were interested in know how I would be able to assist in growing that sector.
