I applied online. The process took 6 months. I interviewed at American Airlines (Dallas, TX) in Apr 2013
Interview
The process took six months from when I applied last November to the actual interview; there was an online personality assessment followed by the (computerized) phone interview; The interview day began with an essay (If you were on a 12 hour flight to NRT - who would you like to sit by and why...) - followed by a great ice breaker ... The group interview was short and only a few questions; The interview "coordinator" then said we would be called out for our one-on-one interviews based by our return flight departure time - so for us to not get worked up over who was being called out first ... I was aware of previous reports that if they wanted you - that you would be fingerprinted that day ... no fingerprints = no job offer ...I asked about the fingerprinting and was told that everyone would be notified in about two weeks and that the fingerprinting would be done then ... BUT what they actually did was call out those they wanted first - sent them out for fingerprinting and then those folks "reappeared" for the van ride back to DFW ... One of the guys in my group interview was called up first, got fingerprinted as did the first 5-7 called out (surprisingly - he was the one who spun around in his chair and slouched down in his seat with his feet crossed in front....??? interview etiquette 101 ???)
