American AirlinesWhen you see it, you can be it! Last week, we teamed up with Mattel, Inc. to surprise customers with Bessie Coleman dolls from the Inspiring Women line on one of our flights. Bessie Coleman was the first Black and Native American female to earn a pilot’s license in 1921. A true pioneer in aviation who taught us the sky is just the beginning. To keep the inspiration going, our #AATeam hosted a unique event for aviation students at the Ronald E. McNair public school 5 in Brooklyn, New York — a place designed to encourage youth to follow and build upon Bessie Coleman’s rich legacy. Students could hear firsthand from Bessie’s great niece, Gigi Coleman, and test their skills on flight simulators guided by members of our #AATeam. And, to really drive home the excitement, each of the students was presented with a Bessie Coleman doll to remind them that you can accomplish anything if you let your dreams take flight. #LetGoodTakeFlight
