The process took 4 months. I interviewed at American Airlines (Dallas, TX) in Feb 2016

      Interview

I flew into DFW the night before and stayed at a hotel. My interview was the next day at 10am but got there at 9am. I recommend doing this. When I got there, there was already a group of 10 candidates sitting in the lobby chatting. It was nice being able to talk and relax before going into the interview. I wore a black skirt suit, black tights, black heels, a black leather purse for holding paperwork, and my hair pinned back. Once it was time for the interview a recruiter greets you all and shows you a little around the training center. Then brings you into the main room you'll be in. My interview group was definitely smaller than most, about 20 people maybe. We started with a short work sheet about a simple inflight situation. Then met the recruiters. They were all so nice and funny, definitely made you feel more comfortable! Next we slipped off into groups of about 6. We went into a separate room with 2 recruiters. In chair order, (I was first) they asked "tell us about yourself and why you want to be a flight attendant". Second question, which we got to go in which ever order we wanted (I recommend trying to go first, don't be overly aggressive) "tell us about a time you dealt with a challenging situation dealing with customer service". Next we drew cards and had to answer them on the spot. Possible questions: what was your last random act of kindness, tell us about your last traveling experience, if you had to be on a plane with someone for 12 hours who would it be and why, importance of the flight attendant uniform, meaning of customer service, and why does American Airlines stand out more than other airlines. Then we go to break for snacks, drinks, and bathroom break. After that, the whole group met back in the main room. We go over a power point about everyday FA Life, benefits, salary, bases, training, etc. Then you can ask the recruiter any questions regarding that. During questions different recruiters returned and began calling people for one on ones. I got Cathy, such an awesome and sweet woman! She asked me about my resume and really just wanted to get to know me and my customer service experience. Then she offered me a CJO right on the spot! And also my training date and training packet. Next, I filled out some paper work, did a drug test, got finger printed, did the jump seat and reach test (don't worry I'm 5'1" and have no problem reaching the height).
