      Pros

Great culture. Need to be a techy head. You will thrive if you have instinct and are curious

      Cons

difficult to progress past senior support. most dont stay beyond 2-3 years and a lot of our early benefits, eg sabbatical bonus and unlimited PTO and stock have been axed

Inexperienced Managers and Sub Par Benefits

      Senior product marketing manager
      Current employee

      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

      • Remote first working model • Team of coworkers who are generous and kind • Competitive Pay (for new hires) • 401(k) and HSA matching

      Cons

      • Inexperienced managers are given leadership roles to more experienced direct reports. I understand that there is value in allowing an IC to grow into a team lead role, but it is very evident that the new managers lack experience in people management. Perhaps a new people leader should receive one direct report first before managing 4+ ICs. When I took the offer to join this company, I was excited to work under a highly regarded leader who was well versed, only to be traded under the leadership of a former peer. The new manager's leadership style is dictative, aggressive, deeply unempathetic, and immature at best. Work/Life balance is not evident, and conversations are not always productive and considerate. • Compared to competitor tech companies, the benefits here are lacking. Fitness reimbursement is low, maternity leave is average, and ICs do not get a bonus or RSUs (company stock). • The company has been in the red quadrant for quite some time, so I am uncertain of its profitable outlook over the next few years. • Priorities are constantly adjusting to the point where if you start working on a "high priority" project, it gets pushed back. Once you're able to deliver on a goal, there is very little to no time to evaluate results and iterate. • This company runs like a growing start-up with very little realized structure. Important documents are not properly organized, processes are not well defined, and budgets for resources are conservative. • The guidance for PTO has been reduced, and the "July week of rest" has been repositioned to be included in the 4 weeks of PTO and is no longer "mandatory".

      Pros

Remote, good work life balance, great benefits

      Cons

Low pay comparatively and no bonuses

Great Culture, Flexible work/life balance but very corporate

      Pros

Good salary, benefits, bonus, stock grants. Flexible schedule 100% remote. Strong emphasis on culture and people ops. No micromanaging, left alone to accomplish goals and run my team as I see fit.

      Cons

Because everyone is remote, it is difficult to communicate across teams. Size of org also makes implementing change difficult. Very corporate and hard to get things done. If legal or finance is involved expect major delays. Feels artificial when they talk about empathy. I was laid off due to streamlining. Had nothing to do with performance. All my reviews were positive and I scored high. When I was let go, everything was done through slack and email. No human connection.

      Senior customer support specialist
      Former employee

      Business outlook

      Pros

-Decent salary for support -Decent Benefits

      Cons

-Customers are becoming increasingly aggressive and leadership does little to back you up or support you -Benefits have been scaling back. Do not let them lie to you about "not removing benefits." They have changed from Unlimited PTO to Flexible PTO, they stopped giving Stock RSUs to customer-facing teams (like support), they got rid of the free books program, and they got rid of the sabbatical bonus. Internal mobility in HubSpot is a joke. It happens, but there is high performers that are stuck. I know people who are still in the support team and leadership should be hanging their heads in shame that some of these people are still in support roles instead of actually experiencing growth in their careers.

It's just another BigCorp with less pay.

      Business outlook

      Pros

Being able to work remotely from anywhere is a great perk. It's the only one left.

      Cons

Career Opportunities - we used to value ourselves on our commitment to helping people grow in their careers. If you're anything less than Senior II, you could be laid off, so think twice about internal mobility unless you're moving from Senior <> Senior role, which isn't happening for people starting in their journey. -Comp & Benefits - HubSpot has always paid less than the industry for the same role/tenure positions, the 401k is capped at 4%, and they've cut a lot of benefits in the name of efficiency. The culture used to make up for it, but now, with the layoffs/re-org and performance culture, take the first better offer you can find on Comp & Benefits; we'll lay you off just like they will. Culture and Values - HubSpot used to be a wonderful place with amazing co-workers, a fantastic leadership team, and a true outlier in transparency and employee respect. All gone now. It's just another BigCorp. You'll say hello to and goodbye to many great co-workers and learn some things, but don't plan on it being a company you can retire at. DI&B - We let go of ~50% of that team. Probably enough said. Senior management - another BigCorp. The CEO tries to be relatable but comes off as stiff, tone-deaf, and completely uninspiring. She supported all of the over-hiring, refused (by omission) to give up bonuses or comp for her mistakes, and only cared about the stock price going up - BigCorp. WLB - It's hard to have WLB when layoffs pile up, and you have to assume the work of a few more people.

Hi, sorry to hear you're disappointed. I think being disappointed in the layoff last year is more than fair, and you're not alone in feeling that way. I think there are a lot of other reasons to be proud of this organization, but understand your perspective and appreciate you sharing it. -Katie
