When Brittany Charlton developed a peanut and tree nut allergy, she had a hard time finding snacks that were both allergen-friendly and tasty. She started to make her own allergen-friendly snacks and later created Ohh! Foods to fill the gap she saw in the market. We also saw the potential in her business and brought Ohh! Foods on as a supplier! We work with small suppliers across Canada and support them to develop their products and grow their business. It’s a win-win: our customers discover unique items, and local businesses find the audience they deserve. Click the link below to hear from Brittany!

We’re proud to be that place where everyone belongs, including our associates from the 2SLGBTQ+ community. That’s especially true during Pride Month. It took associates like Chris Clarke-MacDonald many years to find a workplace that accepted him for who he is. He found that with Walmart and he’s proud to call us his family. “It’s the feeling of belonging that means everything to me,” Chris says. “This is that place where I can be me. That’s what Pride is all about. That’s why I love Walmart.” Read more about Chris’ inspirational coming out story for Pride Month by clicking here: https://lnkd.in/gSrpAd7S We are proud to stand with our 2SLGBTQ+ associates because we are stronger as a company when we all stand together. This is that place where everyone is included!
It's time to celebrate!! We won an Excellence in Retailing Award for Environmental Leadership! 🎉🙌 The award recognizes our work to eliminate single-use plastic shopping bags in our stores across Canada. This change, implemented in late April, is an important milestone on our journey to become a regenerative company. The initiative will help prevent more than 680 million single-use plastic shopping bags from entering circulation each year. This program was led by a cross-collaborative team and shows how passionate our associates and customers are about regeneration. The Excellence in Retailing Awards are presented by the Retail Council of Canada and honours the best in retail innovation and creativity. Congratulations to everyone who helped to bring this important initiative to life!
Congratulations to Doris Medeiros, a personnel manager at our Kitchener West store, for recently celebrating 50 years as a Walmart Canada associate! 🎉 Doris joined the company in 1972 back when it was Woolco. She was there when Woolco became Walmart Canada in 1994 and has seen many changes over the years. Doris spoke with CTV News Kitchener about how retail has evolved, from seeing computers as rare “mystery boxes” to selling pets inside the store! "We had fish, birds, mice, gerbils. So, it was like a real pet store. We don’t have that anymore," Doris says with a smile. "Change, change, change." Click below to watch Doris and her Walmart family on CTV News! Thank you, Doris, for the incredible work you do for our customers and associates. https://lnkd.in/gZH27xiv

We’re thrilled to announce all our Quebec Supercentres will now sell 100% Quebec beef! This commitment represents sales of approximately 100,000 pounds of locally sourced beef, supplied by Quebec’s Alpha Meat Packers, in collaboration with Boeuf Québec | SPEQ. "Supporting local suppliers isn't just what we say, it's what we do," says Cyrille Ballereau, Walmart Canada's Regional Vice President for Quebec.
