Researchers at the University of Paris have utilized #masscytometry to identify profound changes in the immune systems of critically ill #COVID19 patients. The findings may help define a population of COVID-19 patients at high risk for becoming critically ill, and they suggest a possible benefit from anti-inflammatory therapies. “The immunological features and molecular mechanisms involved in COVID-19 are as yet not well-understood, and we urgently need a deeper understanding across the different stages of the disease,” said Dr. Benjamin Terrier, MD, PhD, Department of Internal Medicine, National Referral Center for Rare Systemic Autoimmune Diseases, Public Assistance Hospitals of Paris-Center, University of Paris. “A means to identify groups at high risk for severe COVID-19 could provide valuable insights into effective approaches to treatment.” Read the press release: https://lnkd.in/gy3EF9v #immunotherapy #immunology #CyTOF #immune #research #precisionmedicine

Guangzhou Medical University researchers enhance understanding of immune checkpoint signals in the #multiplemyeloma microenvironment and suggest novel targets to improve immune checkpoint blockade-based MM #immunotherapy using mass cytometry-based #singlecell analysis. High-dimensional single-cell analysis of 30 immune proteins enabled the group to map an immune landscape of multiple myeloma and identify abnormal immune cell composition in the bone marrow of patients tested. Results suggest a correlation between MM cells and immune checkpoint phenotypes and expand the view of MM immune signatures. https://lnkd.in/g6i3S9P #masscytometry #cancerresearch #cancer #celltherapy

We celebrate #EarthDay in support of #science, the #environment and of course, Earth!
Human geneticists are working together to identify #genes that might make some people more vulnerable to #coronavirus. Why do some people experience mild symptoms, while others become severely affected? Looking for #DNA differences could offer answers and help us predict those who would be most at risk of serious illness. Data might also guide new treatment and #vaccines development. Biomark HD offers time and cost savings for genotyping assays. It is also currently being employed in #COVID19 testing for its potential to reliably add significant capacity.
We are thrilled to announce a new Center of Excellence for Imaging Mass Cytometry in Singapore together with the Singapore Immunology Network (SIgN), part of the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR). To be housed in SIgN’s premises at Biopolis, Singapore’s biomedical research hub, the new CoE will serve as a regional platform for scientific innovation, training, and services in mass cytometry and IMC and accelerate innovation in new product development and pre-commercial product testing.
