During 2020, the Fluidigm Field Service Engineering (FSE) Organization faced great challenges to provide continuous service to our customers in the field. Congratulations to Dylan Kotliar et al. on their new publication in Cell this month! The group studied #Ebola virus and infection, dissecting host-virus interactions and cataloguing changes in cell-type abundance and cell state over the course of the disease. A 42-marker #CyTOF panel was used to comprehensively profile circulating immune cells in a nonhuman primate model of lethal Ebola virus infection, finding key immune cell subtypes elicited in response. A multi-site study including 10 leading U.S. medical institutions is using Fluidigm #masscytometry technology and the Maxpar® Direct™ Immune Profiling Assay™ to track immune response in patients hospitalized with #COVID19 through recovery. Fluidigm service and support teams are responding quickly to address the need for #COVID19 testing. Field service engineers (FSE) are finding innovative ways to deliver results for customers when it matters most. In a recent installation, one of our Fluidigm FSEs responded to an urgent and essential onsite request to install and qualify the Biomark™ HD system. The customer developed a new test intended for large-scale patient testing using the Fluidigm® microfluidics technology and certain reagents to test individuals for the SARS CoV 2 virus, which causes COVID-19. Due to the current restrictions, this dedicated FSE made the long commute by car and performed several work orders within urgent timelines. Because of the effort and skill of this FSE, the customer was able to expedite their plan to offer scalable COVID-19 testing across their health system. #fieldsupport #essentialservices #publichealth
