Pros

I can only speak for my experience at Zappar, so the pros and cons can vary from person to person and from position to position. Please read this review with a critical perspective. + One of the earliest AR pioneers, a great place to start your AR career. + Very good working atmosphere, everyone is friendly and helpful, from management to colleagues. + Some fun projects to work on, new features to implement. + Occasionally free lunch pre-covid, and deliveroo vouchers during lockdown. + Summer/Christmas parties pre-covid, and virtual ones during lockdown. + Marketing and Sales people get promoted quickly. + An opportunity to expose all the cool techs. + Occasionally anonymous forums for feedback to management. + Clear financial report on weekly meetings.

Cons

- Low salary comparing to other tech companies, no bonus or other compensation as a programmer. - Small company, no clear career ladder. No mentor on the software engineering side of things. - Most new hires are new-grads, low retention rate except for some senior members. Ironically, almost all the interviewees on the company career page, who talked about how they love their jobs, have already left. - Not an engineering driven company, nor product driven, more like sales driven. It's an AR agency with it's own tool kits. - No benefits packages, no medical/dental insurance like other companies. - Management changes direction often, leading to some cancelled projects, which you have already devoted a lot of time into. - No written company culture&values, sometimes not inclusive enough.

Pros

- You're able to work on a variety of projects since they're usually short - You get to work with cutting-edge technology that's improving week by week - The founders are very talented people and you can learn a lot from them - Managers and leaders are always willing to listen and improve if something is not right - The culture is fun, supporting and the parties are great!

Cons

- The work can get monotonous if you get some boring projects in a row - Sometimes there's a communication gap between the content team and the biz dev team (although it was improving)
