I worked at VMware full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great place to work. Great Technologies although left behind a bit in the race of competition with competitor vendors comparing 2005 to 2012 which VMware was a solid leader. Lost the race after that which still could be a leader sadly

    Cons

Since 2013-2014 less qualified managers hired globally with a huge turnover because of lack of basic knowledge in the field and with irrelevant background even non IT managers to manage highly advanced technology teams (internally or externally). Company was not transparent right before and since Dell EMC acquisition. Although things were falling of the hill, we were keep hearing things are better and we are hiring while it was complete the opposite behind the scene.
The value of loyalty between the employees went down hill and loyalty of the company stood in front of a big bold question mark. Lovely company but very sad.

    Advice to Management

Senior management director level need to reassess their wok. Not every one can be a true leader. frank but honest

I have been working at VMware full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Innovative company, on the fringe of the technology industry. Great pay, great benefits.

    Cons

The bay area is super competitive, and top talent has been leaving.

    Advice to Management

Do as much as you can to retain your highly skilled and talented employees. Consider new offices in hot technology regions.

I have been working at VMware full-time

    Pros

great technology and solutions, great people

    Cons

The very best health plan offered at VMware is the Aetna with a pre-paid Health Equity account. Having a family with kids that play sports, we end up at the ER often in addition to the typical Dr visits. Aetna covers about 30-50% of claims. In addition to the low coverage, it is very administrative to login to the Health Equity website and match the claims (which is a mystery as the $ amounts don't match) and then fund them with your equity account. It is also very unclear which is which. I was told that moving away from the HMO was voted on by employees. I was never presented with a voting option. It would be great if VMware could bring back an HMO as an option for employees. Upon inquiring about this I was told that VMware cannot absorb the costs of an HMO. Hoping this changes.

    Advice to Management

Please provide better health care options for employees.

I have been working at VMware full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Great Technology, emplyees that care

    Cons

The DellEMC takeover has produced a legal and finance focused company that has let support deteriorate, place revenue and short term $ strangle client satisfaction

    Advice to Management

You have lost sight that clients and employees are more important than internal policies.
