    Pros

Formerly, a great team in Burlington. Close knit, a lot of fun, experienced Management.
Great food options, team events and holiday parties. Work hard, play hard!

    Cons

Shutting the entire site down without a thought to the impact on the community and business. It's a very short sighted view, clearly shown on how badly CSAT is within Bangalore, Cork and Broomfield.

    Advice to Management

Revisit opening the Burlington office again.

I worked at VMware full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Great technology, great developers all across the world

    Cons

Bad management decisions in VMware support organization. Closing the Canadian support site in Burlington ON was very bad move hurting many customers for the sake of saving a few bucks . This was the most tenured site among all the VMware support sites. Many customers did complain for quality of service after this bad move. This was a center of excellence and they just dropped it as if nothing will change.

    Advice to Management

not all decisions should be around money specially in a support organization, especially when customer are the ones the get hurt most.

I worked at VMware full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    - community and charity services are encouraged... paid 40 hrs to volunteer and matching gifts
    - the teams worked well and the front-line engineers were easy to work with and helpful

    Cons

Senior Management (directors and VPs) lied until he last day, prior to closing the support center... for over a year they promised and painted rosy pic of "center of excellence" and dropped the support center. Just after shutting down the center, VMware went full swing hiring in all other support centers!!

    Advice to Management

Be honest and truthful... and front-line managers should appreciated employees' hard work and infinite number of requests and benchmarks added each year on their performance metrics. Promises were never kept... crazy work schedule with No work/life (although paid weekend/OT etc). You were expected to work min 50-60 hrs just to keep up!
