Pros

StarChapter has the potential to be something, and I appreciated the thought process behind their sales strategy, even if I didn't appreciate the strategy itself. There are always snacks, coffee, and drinks available to you, which is definitely nice. They tell you from the get go, in sales, that you have the opportunity to move up over time. It's a very motivating thing to hear as a new employee, and it encourages you to put your best foot forward and give your all for as long as you can. The president of the company is a genuinely good guy. He's a nice man who tries his best to communicate with you in the method you're most comfortable with, and I do believe that he genuinely wants each of his employees to be successful and happy.

Cons

Starting from the very beginning, there was a major issue with my employment. The job description very briefly mentions that they'd like you to have experience making outbound sales calls. (By very briefly, I mean that it's a single sentenced amidst a 5 paragraph long description of the position.) The reality is that you'll be making cold calls for 7 hours a day, and sometimes more than that. There is no actual training. They do have a massive Sales Manual that you're expected to memorize as a sales person - and yes, I do mean memorize - but you don't have the time available to you to study that before getting on the phone, and it becomes a mess very, very quickly. You're encouraged to take your work home with you, leaving very little personal time. Their cold calling system is not only inefficient, it's absolutely rude. You, over the span of a few weeks, make 5-7 (depending on what their software system says) calls to the same person. This is badgering, and it's an overly aggressive approach that leads to sales people getting yelled at consistently, and the company builds a bad reputation for itself. Taking your lunch is something you have to work in where you can, and nobody is going to bat an eyelash if you just don't get the opportunity to take it that day because you have to plan around 4 other people's schedules. However, my biggest issue with working here, and the final straw for me, was being asked to stay until 7 o'clock two days a week. From 8 or 9am to 7, that's a 10 or 11 hour shift. Even with an hour for lunch, that's a bit too much, and it wasn't a request where I felt comfortable saying "no". The pay is also rather low. I'd recommend this position to someone just starting out, but I most certainly wouldn't recommend it to anybody with a completed college education.

Pros

Snacks are provided. Nice lounge area, some of the people were ok to work with.

Cons

Pay is atrocious. The product itself gets the job done, but only just. Instead of improving base functionality, they simply continue to pile half finished, poorly thrown together features on top of it. Management structure is in no way clear, effective, or efficient. The company is simply treading water, barely keeping it's head above. If you get a job here, make sure you have an exit strategy.

Pros

Cool office, stocked fridge. They added in a hang out area, but most are afraid to use it.

Cons

Venomous staff. Very shady way of interacting with each other. Computer activities monitored on a level that was very uncomfortable. They will "Let you go" with no explanation whatsoever. Company had the right idea with the software but rushed to production. During interview was told there would be no cold calling, started out cold calling right away, then they increased cold calling some more.
