I have been working at Protiviti full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Very flexible, non-hierarchical, plenty of opportunities to apply yourself, varied projects. Management is very supportive and listens to employee feedback. Great opportunity to distinguish yourself and learn. Very inclusive environment. Great office locations.

    Cons

Since the firm is small, you may not always get along with everyone and will still end up working with them. You just need to learn to manage the relationship better.

    Advice to Management

    Keep doing what you're doing.

I have been working at Protiviti full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

-good benefits, way better pay than big 4 or other accounting firms. -good hours/work life balance. Sense of pride in company. -Strong growth, everyone working together to drive the company forward and better. It's a positive environment

    Cons

-in smaller offices, often disorganized and understaffed. For example, Canadians are often staffed for long-term at the same client. There's no work variety or interesting clients. You know your clients more than you know your own Protiviti teammates. That's how bad it is. -Limited social opportunities in Canada. Everyone is always out at clients for a long time. No one even knows each other and small cliques form.... Overall Protiviti is nice, but definitely not at the smaller offices.

    Advice to Management

-Should hire enough people and ENSURE your consultants get a variety of work (as you promised in the Foundations program, which is not enforced very well). -Should ask for feedback and actually care about how consultants are feeling at the clients. -cap a max time or budget for the same consultant to be at a client - there are people who literally work at the same client for entire year everyday 365 days, why... shouldn't they just work for the client instead then?

I have been working at Protiviti full-time for less than a year

    Pros

The first thing that stands out at Protiviti is the people and the warm culture. Right from the time HR personnel reached out to me on Linkedin, every interaction that I had was pleasant. The onboarding process (Passport to Protiviti) is one of a kind where the company has invested alot of resources in providing a great welcome to the new employees and makes it very easy for them to hop onboard infused in the... values and culture that Protiviti wants to promote. The branding is very strong and gives a great first impression. The location of Toronto office is in the heart of financial district that makes you feel very connected. The team in Toronto office is relatively small and growing, hence you get a chance to actually know and interact with majority of your colleagues unlike bigger firms where you would hardly know anyone outside your own team. There are many social events and drinks giving you a chance to catchup and connect with colleagues outside work. The projects that Protiviti teams are working on are for leading financial institutions providing lots of exposure. The project management team and leadership on the project is very transparent and invested. There are regular team meetings that keep everyone in loop and provide opportunities to raise concerns or questions. There are fair opportunities and room given to innovate and propose solutions. Thinking out of the box is encouraged to provide client service excellence. There are tonnes of resources available at intranet and training opps provided to catchup on learning and keeping up to date. There is an open door policy practiced by leadership where you can raise concerns in confidence and have objective discussions without any fears. There is resourcing team available in each line of service to help you pursue your career interests and communicate the type of projects and geographical locations that you would like to work in. There are opportunities to work with teams from various parts of North American region. The pay is fair and compensation package includes a very fair bonus scheme that rewards performance and recognizes your contributions.

    Cons

The hiring process seemed to be unnecessarily long and took around 3 months. The onboarding takes place in U.S cities and Canadian employees can not relate to few sessions offered during the training. Due to smaller size, there is a bit of chaos in management of things, it is less organized than expected. It can take a while to figure out who's who and how are things done, making you feel lost for a while.... Client service time vs internal errands time balance is difficult to manage. It is a less flatter structure than other consulting firms with majority of employees reporting to single director in each line of service. Just like any other consulting firm, the work/life balance is a challenge, at times you need to put up those extra hours to get things done but you sign up for it!

    Advice to Management

The Toronto market offers incredible opportunities waiting to be tapped and explored. Bringing in subject matter experts and diversifying the range of services can promise exceptional growth and market share. Also expanding the team to bring in people from former consulting backgrounds at both leadership and operational level can add more breadth and mean bigger vision. Male to female employee ratio can be... improved.

I have been working at Protiviti full-time for less than a year

    Pros

This is a relatively small organization which creates some hurdles, but does allow you to create meaningful relationships with senior personnel. For instance, a recent training session in Tampa FL benefited from a visit by not only the CEO, but the entire Executive Team. Great transparency and mentorship are available to you here, if you're able to respond maturely to critical feedback and show some initiative.

    Cons

There are some organizational challenges with respect to the Canadian employees; the training provided around traveling, expenses, and several other things, do not necessarily provide any benefit or guidance to you. The correct information is available to you, but you'll have to hunt around for it.

    Advice to Management

A little more effort to promote a sense of integration between the Canadian and US offices would help a lot!

    I worked at Protiviti full-time

    Pros

US Positions (if you get flown) might give you exposure to different managing directors with a better, more professional attitude.

    Cons

Sexism (blatant comments management knows they will get away with, work you've done being given to the favorite, males only represent your work and contributions, meetings, etc. that females have 0 representation in despite having more subject matter expertise, despite having come up with BPIs, etc. Lack of transparency Poor work ethic Day-to-day discrimination American vs. Canadian discrimination among... all position levels

    Advice to Management

There are 5 FTEs that resigned within the last two weeks and a few more contemplating or already applying due to common frustrations. If you would like to build your practice in Canada and maintain a good reputation, take into account that perception is reality and take action on the many escalations that have been brought to your attention over the past 6 months.

I have been working at Protiviti full-time for less than a year

    Pros

The onboarding process uses a specially designed program that provides an excellent introduction in the company's culture and what it stands for. The highest level of management attends this introduction program to welcome new hires, and provide them with their experiences. This introduction program and the home office welcoming efforts provide for a very positive and professional environment.

    Cons

There are no cons that can be thought of at this stage.

    Advice to Management

The background checks could be a bit more aligned to avoid duplications and delays.
