Bad RTO Policy

Pros

Bright and helpful people, challenging and rewarding work. Solid 4 or 5 stars until the recent RTO policy (see Cons).

Cons

The RTO policy is poorly designed. Policy itself has obvious loopholes that weren't addressed prior to implementation, resulting in faulty numbers being reported (for example, vacation/sick days counts as missing attendance). We are now in a "comply or leave" situation where a % attendance target is mandated, and if not met consistently, our job security is threatened regardless of our work performance, which is unfair to top-performers. Additionally, it is unfair to our remote employees. I personally know many talented co-workers who live far away, are either losing time on commute, or losing money on trying to rent closer to the office, which is bad for both energy and morale. Leadership is indifferent/non-transparent about the situation, which raises a lot of eyebrows on their integrity.

Thank you for sharing your reaction to our updated flexible work policy. We understand that the transition to a hybrid work model may be challenging for some of our team members, and we want to address the concerns you've raised. Our policy was designed to be transparent and comprehensive, and offers clear guidelines for employees on situations regarding PTO or sick days (one does get “credit” by the way). Like any policy, employees are expected to comply, and we are tracking data to see how we are evolving as a company. If you need any clarification on the policy, your Manager or HR Business Partner are available for support. We have consistently hired individuals within commutable distance from our offices and have been clear that we are an office-based culture and would return when it was safe to do so. . We recognize the value of each team member and understand that some may unfortunately choose to leave if they decide a fully remote job is the best decision for them.

Pros

- Individual colleagues and immediate managers are passionate, knowledgeable and friendly - Encouraged remote work policy - Nice perks like a week off in the summer (at the cost of the typical standard of a week off during the winter holidays)

Cons

- Strongly pushing an extremely unpopular return to office - Using biased stats from real estate managers to justify RTO, when questioned about the biased sources response was to brush aside concerns - Upper management seems to be unaware how cross team and instead pushes for an unrealistic version of how they THINK it should work - Even if RTO had to happen, the roll out of this plan has been a mess, with offices only getting a few weeks notice before start date, leaving them to scramble without enough resources to accommodate everyone returning

Thank you for sharing your reaction to our updated flexible work policy, which requires employees to be in the office two days a week. As we shared during a recent CEO Update, the majority of companies, like us, have realized a hybrid approach to be the best of both worlds - the ability for employees to continue to have choice over where they work the majority of days, but also provide the camaraderie of working together and enhanced opportunities for collaboration, innovation, and development that come with in-office work. It’s important to us that our employees feel supported and informed during the transition, which is why we provided several months' notice to make any arrangements needed in order to meet the requirement of two days in office. We hope you find that once you get through the change of daily routine and are coming in a couple of days a week, you do enjoy the opportunities it affords.

Bad leadership

Pros

Unwanted push of RTO without hearing from employees on what they want . Went from a friendly leadership to a feared leadership. The don't care attitude of losing employees and asking them to leave if they don't agree to the policies shows that the leadership is no better .

Cons

Bad RTO policy. Poor HR policies

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on our updated flexible work policy, which requires employees to be in the office just two days a week, and gives them the ability to continue to have choice over where they work the majority of days. We understand that change can be hard, and the transition may cause discomfort. We are happy to share that most employees are adjusting well and enjoying being in the office. Our decision was driven by several considerations including enhanced collaboration and communication, to reignite and enhance our company culture, and to provide more networking and development opportunities for our employees – all of which were highlighted as essential areas in our most recent employee engagement survey. Our leaders have reinforced that all of our employees are valuable, and acknowledged that some may unfortunately choose to leave if they decide a fully remote job is the best decision for them.
