I worked at Payfirma full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Payfirma offers a great opportunity to grow, learn and expand your career horizons. The office culture was great and I really enjoyed the people I worked with. The pace was fast and I was really able to see the value of my contributions.

    Cons

I really do not have any cons.

    Advice to Management

Break down the walls that exist between departments and be more open to collaborative ideas from your team. Understand thoroughly, the talent and experience you have within your team. Communicate more from top down.

I worked at Payfirma full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Good and growing industry. Can join for short term, to gain exposure into the industry.

    Cons

Payfirma suffers from leadership crisis under a disappointing CEO. Management team lacks proper experience, education and vision which adds to the negative environment within the team. Commitment level is low and focus is on identifying people to blame for improper execution.

    Advice to Management

CEO should be more professional and stand committed to what he conveys and avoid deceiving employees as soon as they leave.

I have been working at Payfirma full-time

    Pros

payfirma really had trouble for a while but a year ago, kalle (president) started running company meetings, setting goals, and getting things back to a good place. now everyone is happy again. the business has targets that everyone is clear about. managers are all in sinc. we have new partners. things have turned around. employees are getting their bonus for doing a good job. vacation time is really good. there are...

    Cons

the ceo is hurting the comany with his public battle, he hasn't been running the company for over a year and hasn't even come to the office in many months. he is going to hurt all of the good work everyone else has done. he says he cares about people and comes to the office when no one is there and writes dumb notes on white boards.

    Advice to Management

Do what you are doing but get a new ceo.

    Pros

    They tried. They really did.

    Cons

Didn't keep their eyes on the prize and got caught up in being a "cool startup". Too many started and unfinished projects.

I worked at Payfirma full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Payfirma offered me a great opportunity to further my sales career here in Vancouver. I have been treated with nothing but fairness and respect from day one. I was promoted to Account Executive after 5 months working in a more junior role role. In my opinion (and I have lots of friends in similar jobs in startups in Vancouver) there is no other startup business where you have the opportunity to sell a product that...

    Cons

We used to have taco Tuesday once per month. This is no longer the case. We are under staffed in the support role at present but management have been busy hiring and training to fix his issue. The elevators in the new office building are really slow! They changed the trail mix lately... no bueno! Bring back the Costco mix. The dev team and the sales guys don't know each other.

    Advice to Management

While focusing on profitability, also keep in mind the needs of the customer. I think that the sales team would benefit form pooled residual commission. The nature of our sales funnel mean that some Account Mangers can get lucky with a whale deal. In cases where the new client is worth a million dollars or more in processing their residual should be pooled to the group. Keep innovation going! we have become a little...

I worked at Payfirma full-time for less than a year

    Pros

None... I guess I learned that I will never work for a company like this, ever. So much unpaid overtime.

    Cons

So many. The staff are evil, and expect each other to work tons of unpaid overtime, even if they are in a super low-level position such as support/billing. I've never worked with a worse bunch. Super low pay.

    Advice to Management

Flee. Jump ship. Save yourselves if there's any dignity left.

I worked at Payfirma full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Great location in the heart of downtown Vancouver. Various food options and modes of transportation are close by. I have to fill a 20 word minimum, but for the life of me can't find anything to say.

    Cons

There was a time when I first started, where there was a lot of great things to say about Payfirma. 2 years and $13 Million later, the company has lost its vision and its company culture. They were once the scrappy little company that gave big banks and payment providers a run for their money. Now, Payfirma has been left behind in the FinTech world by its competitors, in terms of service and products offered, and is...

    Advice to Management

Former employees will remember a WTF? board we introduced where we voiced our issues with the company. Nothing happened. Really listen to your employees – and if they aren't telling you the truth because they no longer trust you, open your eyes. This company is falling apart and all of its superstars have left or are going to leave. Recognize the effort that your employees put in to keep Payfirma going. Invest...
