Pros

Interesting line of research. It's really impossible to say something else

Cons

- Horrible structure: It is supposed to be a consulting firm, but in my experience, I just worked with the founder of the company on a one-to-one basis. She made the interview, wrote me the contract, and guided my research. As far as I know, no other senior research analyst works there. - Cheat: Roya Ghalefele promised to hire me full time after a trial period, just to pay me a low salary in the meantime. One day, she told me I was going to receive a proper full-time contract by phone. I got excited, and when asked her for more details, she told me she never made that offer. Just a taste for you to imagine how serious this company is. - Awful timing. Roya Ghalefele sent me emails and called me, literally at any time. Sundays, evenings, mornings before 8 AM... I just don't advice at all this company, it was the worst work experience of my whole life.

Pros

I started working at Oxfirst over a term break and stayed on through the term, until part-time wasn't compatible with my academic schedule anymore. Would have loved to stay on for longer and am considering going back at a later point. The pay is good, excellent if you are doing it as an internship / student job. The work at Oxfirst is super interesting. You'll learn how to evaluate patents / intellectual property, learn a bunch about technology markets and research new trends at a key intersection of law and economics (intellectual property) that's only bound to become more important. So career prospects / outlook is great, whether you want to go into tech, consulting or finance. Among these industries, the skills you learn are broadly applicable (pricing products, estimating market size, research skills). I was involved in a client's projects from day one and felt that my thoughts were taken seriously and valued. I enjoyed the challenge and found it very rewarding. You'll gain hands-on experience and will be valued as a full team member from the day you start. I interacted with my supervisor, Roya Ghafele, on a daily basis during my work here. She is very accessible and capable in mentoring and guiding your work, which I found helpful for very helpful for learning on the job.

Cons

To be fair, the work is at times challenging (intellectually, sometimes you'll have to put in an extra hour, etc.), but I guess that comes naturally with you being directly involved in clients' projects. And it comes with the reward of a steep learning curve and good pay.

Pros

Engaging, exciting, high standard of work. I started working here because I wanted to learn about the 'behind-the-scenes' of modern innovation. I got more than I expected, getting to work along with some of the best academics in the field and observing their work first hand is invaluable.

Cons

No space for small errors, this can put some extra pressure on but in the end it's worth it.
