Pros

I love the fact that I get to make a difference in the students lives and the relationship we build. I really enjoy encourage them to learn, find new ways of thinking and grow. I honestly get so much back from them and their big personalities

Cons

I do think it’s backwards.. because courses are funded by ETB and HSE we are often targeted to have X amount of students per class and get X amount of subjects completed with little to no allowance for student’s individual needs. It’s a bit unfair on staff and students if they are unable for the module work. Even when it’s flagged in a sample they’re still being brought on. I also think staff should be treated better and retained. Also it wouldn’t hurt to organise a centre Christmas party that doesn’t cost and arm and a leg or celebrate staff that have been there for 15 and even 35 years. Also when staff do leave it’s important to fill those posts quicker. It’s not fair on others in the centre. Rehab group do have some nice initiatives and employee benefits as a whole like subsidised doctor, counselling sessions online training opportunities. It seems lovely but more needs to be done in a centre level, from the centre I am in.
