Pros

This job gave me numerous valuable insights into red flags that one should look for when applying for jobs.

Cons

The first thing that anyone who worked at MMI will tell you is just how high the turnover rate at the company is. If you're looking for jobs in the Wilmington area you've almost definitely seen the postings for this company. You'd have seen them several months ago and I promise that you will see them for a long time to come. Management might chalk it up to their "intense" work environment but the reality is that the turnover is caused by people realizing that they can make more money working for better people. This workplace was definitely a wake up call for me on how toxic a workplace could be. At no other place that I've worked have I ever witnessed and experienced the type of harassment and abuse perpetrated by the owner of MMI. Threats of termination are exceedingly common. Veteran employees (anyone who's stuck around for more than a year or so) are overloaded and when they inevitably fail to meet the unrealistic expectations they can expect verbal abuse from the boss and leverage against them in salary negotiations, which aren't guaranteed to occur at their scheduled times. This brings me to my next point, the dishonesty and lack of integrity of this company. Due to Covid, MMI has put a freeze on all performance reviews and pay raises in order to cover costs. This is completely understandable in the context of the times. Or it would be, if this wasn't hidden from new hires during the interview. What actually happened was that the boss pitched a lowball hourly rate on the condition that he can "get an idea of what you're worth" and that after 90 days there will be a new discussion of your rate. He even claimed to give raises much faster than other shops in the area. These were all things that were said WHILE THE COMPANY HAD IN PLACE THE POLICY OF NOT GIVING RAISES. There are several employees as of the writing of this review that are waiting on their raises and have been waiting since they were hired. The quality of your workday at MMI will also be largely determined by the boss' mood. There would be days in which he'd be on the floor joking with employees and then later that day he'd be rampaging through the shop berating these same employees. Not knowing which person you're talking to on a given day makes any interactions with the owner a stressful nightmare. If you're reading this, you're most likely on the search for work and whatever promises this company makes you will sound very good. It's not worth it. This place is where promising careers in manufacturing go to die. Life is much too short to work for dishonest people like these.

Pros

The employees try to be happy.

Cons

You will see new employees come in that will make more than you but can not do there own jobs. There is zero pay scale based on experience. You will see people with 30 years experience but dont have enough skill to do there jobs making a fortune while the guys doing the work get nothing but hell from management. The management there are extremely toxic. The most toxic job I have ever worked for. I don't blame the management as much as I do the owner. The owner bullies the managers into being soulless people. It's pretty depressing there. It truly seems like they want people in there just to harass and to belittle them. Good luck.
