I worked at Lockheed Martin full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Large scale high-profile projects (within country of residence)
    Good benefits.
    Competitive salaries.

    Cons

Working for Lockheed Martin International, I figured I could apply for jobs in countries all over the world where Lockheed has a footprint. Turns out that unless you are a U.S. citizen these job openings are not made available to you. The internal job opportunity search engine automatically defaults to only display jobs available in your country of residence/employment. Any international jobs require you to be a U.S. citizen to apply. Your work e-mail is also labelled "EXPAT" in the Global Address Book, if you are not an American citizen.

    Advice to Management

You are an international conglomerate. Open up internal job opportunities to all employees anywhere that you operate. Don't discriminate against international employees under the guise of security concerns.

I worked at Lockheed Martin full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    Good benefits
    Flexible work hours
    Very good training resources on-line
Very good career progression for well-liked staff

    Cons

Non competitive salaries for junior/intermediate staff
    Poor technical oversight
    Poor software engineering practice
    No mentoring or coaching

Management needs to model the values and principles the company claims to adhere to. Need to put the customer first and not allow poor practice and oversight to unnecessarily increase costs.

I have been working at Lockheed Martin full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The work is fun and fairly interesting. The managers at the office I am at are friendly and care about the employees. The product that I am working on is interesting and definitely enjoyable.

    Cons

The pay could be better and there is little documentation of the code base. They also take a lot of ideas from smaller companies such as "flex time" and manage to turn them into very corporate policies that don't work all that well. The amount of paperwork required can hinder an employees productivity, but also is a necessary evil in the defense industry.

    Advice to Management

Have some form of training for the new hires that involves the job they are doing. Also, pay a competitive wage. It helps to be more flexible regarding vacation policies and flex time as well.
