Pros
This is an alright place to build knowledge and save income, they will give you raises sometimes when you ask and push for them. The benefits are alright, medical package is standard at best. They are very flexible (if you need a day off, there is no fight), but unless you’re working in certain departments, overtime is virtually nonexistent, which should be illegal. People are friendly to work with, great office vibe unless the owner or HR is there. If you can find a way to avoid the owner and her microscope, you’ll be fine.
Cons
They are extremely un-loyal to their employees. If you skip your lunch time because you were on the phone with a customer, too bad. If you stay one hour late because of an install that went overtime, too bad. If you come in early to finish something that management asked you for but haven’t had time because you’re balancing 3 job titles in 1 schedule, too bad. If you get asked to go on a work trip and you work nonstop for 16 hours a day during the trip but each day only accounts for 10 hours of work pay, too bad. The office culture is reminiscent of a 3rd world country dictatorship. They expect the highest performance of you but will only recognize their own ethnicity as Employee of the Month, as great employees and also as potential leadership position fills. If you suggest advice on something, the owner will treat you like you just came out of the looney bin (asking “Are you stupid?” in a condescending tone is not okay for a professional environment). Trust issues within the owner’s own life have led to her projecting onto the company and the employees she hired, which creates a very uncomfortable environment as you’re being constantly scrutinized for not doing any work even when you are working hard, and also being treated as an untrustworthy employee from the start. Cameras everywhere, the owner requires a lengthy report for absolutely everything, even the most unnecessary instances. Only focuses on the negatives. If you had a successful presentation, they will point out only what went wrong. Common sense lacks in leadership all throughout the company. Lack of communication is misconstrued as a mistake on your part for not being able to communicate in their dominant language, instead of obviously bettering their onboarding/training procedures. Lack of communication between departments, and lack of prioritizing work duties is overlooks on the grounds of ESL issues, nepotism, and favoritism among the owner and others. Poor leadership, shown by frequent changes in priorities without warning, imposing impossible workloads, or shifting goals that make it hard to meet targets. The implementation of highly important “company values” is preached, but never followed-through. Company culture or empathy for employees is non-existent. Very high turnover rate due to unethical procedures and treatment. Can’t give any constructive criticism to management because they will go and complain about you the second you’re out of their office.
