Pros

Weddings are a very fun work environment. Paid training for DJs. Most of your coworkers are very kind. Great for starting out as a DJ or AV Tech with little/no experience. They will absolutely keep your calendar full. Full time hours for warehouse managers and some tech jobs.

Cons

1) Very high turnover rate. This is easily the highest turnover rate I've ever seen at a company. The team at the beginning of the year will look very different by the end of the year. The owner is very quick to terminate employees for honest mistakes. 2) No HR department, If you have a complaint about a team member's conduct, you go to the owner. If you have a complaint about the owner's conduct, you go to... the owner. 3) For DJs, hourly pay is low and fixed. Majority of pay comes in the form of bonuses that are not guaranteed. Opportunity for "raises" are extremely scarce and delayed as much as possible. 4) Employee "contract" is unprofessional, unclear, and fundamentally flawed. It is not a legally binding document, but rather, a sheet of paper with "job expectations" written on it. I was never actually required to sign it. 5) (DJ assistants) You will need to pay close attention to your schedule because they will ocassionally change your call time without letting you know in advance. They will also try to schedule you on a day off and see if you notice/care. 6) They seem to operate on an "accept every inquiry and figure out logistics later" strategy. This has led to frequently assigning team members to jobs that they are not trained for, confusion in call times, poor event preparation, and attempts to schedule people on their days off. 7) Unnecessarily high expectations. They will ask you to perform tasks that you did not initially agree to. The owner will attempt to break you down and demoralize you during your DJ training. As a DJ, if you so much as forget to send a "thank you" email to your client after your event, you will lose your bonus. If you forget to tag them in your instagram post, you will hear about it and potentially be penalized. 8) No compensation for required equipment. You are absolutely required to have a smartphone to work here, as it's your only means of clocking in at events. They do not provide any form of reimbursement of this device. They will use every loophole they can to avoid compensating you for mileage and overtime hours. 9) Toxic management. The owner takes criticism extremely personally. When they ask for your opinion of any aspect of the company, if you don't answer with resounding approval, you will rapidly find yourself on the owner's bad side. Certain employess can do no wrong. The owner is quick to blame employees for mistakes, but will rarely take responsibility for their own actions. 10) Work load. They expect you to request days off several months in advance. You will likely work every single Saturday of the year except December - February. You will likely work extremely long hours depending on your role (8-16 hour days). They may miscalculate your end time for an event, meaning they may say you're off at 1pm, but you're really just off when the job is done, which could be several hours later. Through all of this, they expect you to be a "team player" and just roll with the punches. If you do not establish firm boundaries, they will take advantage of you.

Poor Work/Life Balance, Not Career Friendly

Pros

This feels like it would be a good job for a college student or someone getting started in the wedding or A/V field. Overall, all the employees seem great.

Cons

It feels like you have to have a basic technical background to succeed here. Trainings feel rushed and a bunch of it happens in the field making my events feel disorganized and stressful. Management hasn't respected my work-life balance. My shift schedules were frequently changed last minute. Almost every big event ended later than scheduled and anyone on those events was stuck working later since we carpooled in company vehicles to job sites. The owner sets unrealistic expectations for raises and promises more than the job has to offer. I've been promised a lot of growth opportunities but they all seemed to rely on me putting in work off the clock like training on my own time or added responsibilities without any change to my pay.
