Pros

Some few field work opportunities and opportunity to advance your career through job title and tasks because the owner hires with lesser education and experience requirements than typically required for this role (I was hired with a bachelor’s degree but these positions typically involve at least a master’s degree and years of experience).

Cons

*DO NOT WORK HERE IF YOU ARE AN IMMIGRANT OR HAVE FRIENDS OR FAMILY WHO ARE IMMIGRANTS OR HAVE INDIAN ANCESTRY* The management/owner is only one man and the only employee is his son, everyone else quits due to the management. The owner repeatedly made comments about immigrants being stupid and generally uneducated after learning my family and I were legal immigrants. I kept reminding him gently that my family were immigrants in case he forgot and was just voicing political views (which in itself is unprofessional in the workplace)-he had not forgotten and at one point directly stated my parents were likely stupid and uneducated. Tried to report owner to the city of Olympia for discrimination in the workplace targeted towards immigrants but because the workplace is just the owner and the son (no higher management and <5 staff) you cannot do so. The owner is emotionally abusive to staff, will sit for hours next to you trying to argue, passive-aggressively berate you, and constantly aims to prove he is more intelligent or more experienced than you as a means to put you down (does this without you saying anything). I have never met someone like this before who behaves this way in a workplace environment. The owner doesn’t pay attention to the work you are doing/doesn’t listen to what your plan is for assignments and changes initial details of work assignments constantly so that you are constantly having to redo days worth of work. No training is provided in what the owner wants done for reports and he does not answer questions clearly/goes on rants about other subjects so you have to piece what you can together. I was forced to quit this position from the sheer degree and frequency of abusive behavior from the owner as listed above despite the pros of the role. The positive review on this page is likely the owner’s son who puts positive reviews for the company in places he finds negative reviews in order to improve the company’s image, I witnessed this occur on one occasion. The son works separately in web management. The review makes a direct comment about a pro being workplace culture, which is the sole reason I provided for my resignation in my resignation letter. The review was posted just after I quit and there were no other employees (other than the son) for almost 1 year.

Pros

I was early career when I started at EnviroVector and was excited to learn. The position is very interesting and allowed me to learn a lot of new skill sets and work outdoors. The owner is very knowledgeable and has a lot of valuable experience.

Cons

-Negative work environment: Little to no constructive criticism. On multiple occasions I was disrespected by the owner/head biologist in front of clients and my peers. -Small with little room to grow: The company is very small (2-3 employees) and takes on a high volume of projects, making for a very tense and overworked staff. There is high employee turnover which makes advancement unlikely. -No office manager or HR: I didn't receive my contract until 2 weeks after I started working. It included stipulations I was not originally told of prior to my moving to Olympia for the position.
