Pros

You can get certified on the Meta platform

Cons

I took the job at Sutherland (Rochester, NY) as a last ditch effort due to losing my previous job. The interview process was quick and almost instant. After starting it was very clear this place was extremely unprofessional for what they were advertising it. They lied about a lot of the job responsibilities and lied about the culture and values of the company. People acted and used language there that would make HR flip tables (Yet that didn't make a difference). I learned very quickly while working with veterans that they cheat you out of PTO, bonuses, and penalize you for work life balance. Training was a mess and they made it very clear early on that they only cared about you sitting at your desk. They advertise the place as a call center when its just consulting/ advertising for businesses on the Meta platform. Just instead of being polite about the service they want you to harass the businesses that end up in your book. There were multiple occasions on which a person I spoke with was annoyed and hated the Meta Marketing Pros. Multiple fights have broken out on the floor here and multiple managers have been cussed out on the floor. The place will sometimes reek of weed or feces and don't get me started about the public restrooms here. There are 3 year old's who know how to use the restrooms better then the adults here. Its so unsanitary and disgusting. In fact the landlord dislikes the company so much because of all of these issues. Employees cant even use restrooms on other floors without risk of being written up or be on other floors during their breaks. They hand out final write ups left and right here yet still keep the problematic employees. The biggest thing for me is the lack of trust and the lack of effort they put into maintaining a healthy work environment. The fact that they mess up employee bonuses on a monthly basis and that they just push an extremely toxic work culture makes this an awful experience. Only take the job if you are desperate but please for your sanity keep looking. Get the Meta certification while they are paying for it and run. This place will mentally tear you down. I also want to add that this place hires managers who openly admit they used to sell laced drug and have assaulted people in the past. Let that sink in for the type of employees that work there.

Pros

I worked with Sutherland for five years, and one of the main benefits was the ability to work from home. During my first campaign, the manager and certain account managers were great to work with—they listened, showed genuine concern for employees, and were supportive. Even when the company experienced cutbacks due to losing contracts, they often made an effort to transfer employees to other programs so they could remain employed.

Cons

Some individuals within the company can be difficult to work with at times. The pay is lower than expected for the workload, and raises during work anniversaries are often minimal or difficult to obtain. In some cases, increases may only be a few cents. Job security can also be uncertain due to contract changes, and positions are not always guaranteed long-term. Additionally, concerns raised by employees are not always addressed as effectively as they could be. Overall, I would consider working with the company again if needed, but I would view it more as a temporary job rather than a long-term career opportunity—it provides a paycheck, but may not offer strong growth or stability.
