Pros

Unlimited income potential. Good if you already have experience and can prospect on your own without leads. They'll hire almost anybody since there is almost no risk to them (you pay all licensing costs and ongoing office expenses).

Cons

You're pretty much left to figure out everything by yourself. On 100% commission and lots of office costs. It's quite apparent that managers are paid more to hire new advisors, so they tend not to keep up on actually helping their new hires. Extremely high turnover. No leads until you've been around for a few years and make the right friends. All business must be found on your own, which is hard if you're new to the industry. Once you get your sea legs, you'll be so deep in the hole that you'll be working for free for a long time. This was my experience, but it may be restricted to just the Hamilton office.

Pros

Sun Life provides competitive benefits, remote work opportunities, and the chance to work alongside knowledgeable professionals. The company offers strong learning opportunities within the disability and leave management space.

Cons

Staffing reductions and increasing workloads have made it difficult for some teams to maintain service levels while preserving employee well-being. Leadership communication and support can vary by department.
