Pros

Pay is decent and not as bad as the impression that seems to exist unless you're comparing to Silicon Valley; work-life balance is fair but not as great as the impression that seems to exist; nice corporate facilities.

Cons

Flex-time policies vary widely within departments and individual teams. How well you're liked by your manager, how far you live from the office, and whether you have a family are the biggest factors. If granted, it doesn't mean you can vary your work schedule occasionally to take care of personal matters. It means that you pick a start and end time and stick to it. If you need to arrive or leave early, you take time off. Also, workforce definitely slants older. Younger workers are harder to recruit in Bloomington and they often do not stay if they do come. Location is actually probably the biggest con. Unless you have a family or have family in town, you will not fit in and there is nothing to do socially around the town. SF needs to cut the cord and fade out of Bloomington.

Pros

(At the time) Fair pay and predictable bonus structure They were pretty good at covering travel expenses and paying them back quickly Diverse workforce & diversity initiatives Fun and funny coworkers Opportunities for growth Again, this was all four years ago and has likely changed

Cons

(At the time and now, according to other comments) Arrogant to a fault Total lack of innovation & willingness to innovate Odd attachment to the company's past (which prevents progress) High number of veterans (20+ years) who are determined to get that retirement money, and therefore, are resistant to change and technology Heavy reliance on command and control management style Poor decision-making that leads to losses of all kinds
