Pros

- Good training with industry professionals - Will teach you how to sell - You'll become confident selling to all ages and backgrounds - Understanding of people's financial situations - Lots of support from your agent. After all, you're making him money

Cons

- There is no promotion, nowhere to be promoted to - It's up to the agent how they want to pay you. They could be generous with a salary, or commission based. - TONS of down time some days and others you'll just be cold calling all day. - Management at levels higher than agents tend to think of you as useless and don't understand why the agent couldn't do your job. - Management higher than agent level also doesn't care a bit about the relationship or being a "good neighbor" they only want numbers to go up.

Pros

(At the time) Fair pay and predictable bonus structure They were pretty good at covering travel expenses and paying them back quickly Diverse workforce & diversity initiatives Fun and funny coworkers Opportunities for growth Again, this was all four years ago and has likely changed

Cons

(At the time and now, according to other comments) Arrogant to a fault Total lack of innovation & willingness to innovate Odd attachment to the company's past (which prevents progress) High number of veterans (20+ years) who are determined to get that retirement money, and therefore, are resistant to change and technology Heavy reliance on command and control management style Poor decision-making that leads to losses of all kinds
