Pros

Training Excellent Benefits Hybrid working

Cons

First couple years they will celebrate you like a cult but things will change and the pressure will increase. Company loves to give out awards and those are overwhelmingly new employees to get them to drink the Kool-Aid. The turnover is huge. Even managers turnover at a high rate. Only company I have ever worked for where employees move into management and surprisingly many bail out and go back to their old job. Its because State Farm want employees that will commit for life. You will see a huge employee gap in employees that have been there for decades and those that have been there for less the 3 years. Can't recommend it for middle age or older folks...you will never be State Farm indoctrinated. If you are young and no family, it may be worth the investment to work and bleed the red of State Farm and see how it goes. State Farm clearly wants to bring them in young and dumb...or college kids related to State Farm employees...I see that a lot. It is a cult culture which you will realize around year 3 if you are in or out.

Pros

(At the time) Fair pay and predictable bonus structure They were pretty good at covering travel expenses and paying them back quickly Diverse workforce & diversity initiatives Fun and funny coworkers Opportunities for growth Again, this was all four years ago and has likely changed

Cons

(At the time and now, according to other comments) Arrogant to a fault Total lack of innovation & willingness to innovate Odd attachment to the company's past (which prevents progress) High number of veterans (20+ years) who are determined to get that retirement money, and therefore, are resistant to change and technology Heavy reliance on command and control management style Poor decision-making that leads to losses of all kinds
