      Pros

      - A mission/culture/values that break the "norm" - Refreshingly authentic interviewing and hiring process (but you'll either love it or hate it) - Well-being, mental health, diversity and inclusion, work-life balance - all topics that are high priority (not just saying it, but doing it) - People in the company are genuinely open, friendly and happy to support you - Autonomy to work the way you want to and there is so much trust within the firm

      Cons

      - organisational structure and role definition is fluid (a pro for some, not for others) - you need to REALLY enjoy working digitally/remotely

      Pros

      - Very collaborative, even across team boundaries - Very healthy work-life balance culture - Lots of room to grow, explore, and be impactful - Remote-friendly - Fun

      Cons

      - Seeks constant growth and visibility, which can be difficult to achieve depending on the circumstances - Internal documentation can be hit-or-miss - One of Shopify's tenets is "thrive on change" and so there can be a lot of change (org restructures, project scope, etc.)

      Pros

      Legacy Shopify ICs and lower-level managers are excellent and generally quite nice (company's Canadian after all) Caliber of engineering talent is generally high Dev-friendly stack (Ruby/Rails) Bleeding-edge AI adoption with unlimited token budget

      Cons

      Recently brought over a CTO from Microsoft: he brought with him a lot of not-at-all-nice people who are highly political, frequently rude/condescending to legacy Shopifolk, and make consistently bad/dev-hostile technical decisions Bleeding-edge AI adoption is being used to justify unreasonably increased expectations
