Pros

The company overall is an exciting one, very casual. The opportunity to work from home is great. The benefits are great and the salary is not bad - although the guru role should definitely be paid more! While I realize it's an entry level job, it's very stressful dealing with merchants all day!

Cons

Shopify is obsessed with reaching targets and will push to the point of breaking with guru's. Burn out is quick. One 30 minute break in an 8 hour day is not enough. While they stress that personal life balance is important, it really isn't attainable, as most, if not all guru's are putting in extra time to finish their work. The end of day 30 minute personal queue where you are wrapping up your days' tickets is simply not long enough, and it's a stressful scramble to finish. Every day. There is also an irritating juvenile environment - staff is young and it can feel like high school. Squad leads are young and pushy - there is a big competitive environment underlying all the teams. It's not healthy.

Pros

Remote first culture. If you want freedom of location and a company to truly mean and support it - this is the place.

Cons

Constant change. Nothing to hold on to in this role, compensation, KPI's, tools all change every quarter.

Pros

High comp and AI forward. One of the few remote places left.

Cons

Upper management basically openly disdains the “working class”, and it’s a major jostle among the VP and Director level for currying favor with the CEO. The investment in AI tooling is smart but also the C suite majorly suffers from AI psychosis, it’s embarrassing, actually.
