Pros

Job is not hard, you're lucky if you're working for a nice retailer, job somewhat flexible but you have to be available 24/7 for emergencies as you are first port of call for your staff/colleagues Every day is slightly different, but not necessarily more exciting Team is as good as you make it

Cons

Wages - just slightly above minimum what your staff get No future career progression Shell doesn't pay for any uniforms except couple basic tshirt. If you want a jacket you need to pay for it. Any short shifts might be needed to cover by yourself if small/medium garage and not a lot of spare staff even after your 12hr shift you just finished You have to do a lot of hours if you want to make a decent wage All large companies provide discounts for staff members - why not Shell?

Pros

Early career engineers are given significant ownership and exposure to complex operational challenges. Strong focus on safety, technical development, and collaboration across disciplines. Opportunities to work on high-impact projects, interact with senior leadership, and contribute to decisions affecting major assets and infrastructure.

Cons

Workloads can be demanding, and priorities can shift quickly based on operational needs. Decision-making processes can be slow due to organizational complexity, and geographic mobility may be necessary for certain career opportunities.
