- Some of the people are really not great. The leadership over the product team is especially poor.
- Collaborative dialogue about improving processes is flat-out unwelcome. Management pays lip service to retrospection, but is not genuinely interested in hearing critical observations or suggestions from below. If you are a "yes man," the Q4 product team is your jam. If you ask me, that's why it's probably doomed to fail.
- Managers and leaders in several departments play favourites and foster resentment between team members. Favourites get promotions and special attention, while hard-working and talented non-favourites (often the vocal ones) get yelled at. The product team leadership in particular prioritizes covering their own backs over resolving problems and evolving.
TL;DR:
Don't work here if you:
- want to grow in your work;
- want to exercise independent thought;
- value transparency.
Do work here if you:
- like being a suck up;
- like being micromanaged;
- want to go down with the ship.
