Pros

You will get exposure to different industries and a basic understanding of how companies operate. Protiviti management generally consists of good people who treat you well. Junior level employees get a good amount of responsibly and Protiviti invests a lot of money in training. Overall, you will learn some interesting things & make good friends.

Cons

Companies hire Protiviti as a vendor to complete specific tasks (SOX, IA, IT security assessments), rather than as a firm to provide groundbreaking analysis and creative insights to improve the business. The work is audit focused and the majority of employees (especially those out of college) will spend their time doing SOX control testing and internal audit. In these rolls, you are providing assurance that the business/ people are following the rules and performing their tasks correctly.

Pros

Good Culture, decent pay, not overworked too much.

Cons

Repetitive, meaningless, and boring work, hard to pivot out of this career once started. Also, the consulting career feels like such a fake job at times. Doesn't feel like real work. Makes you question your life decisions. I'd recommend any college grads to think about their future career goals first before joining. I joined on a whim and wish I spent more time interviewing. It's been incredibly difficult to pivot out of internal audit and sox compliance once you are in it. However, if you are really good at corporate politics and advocating for yourself you may be able to pivot out of the IAFA solution . However, not sure how that lends it self if you want to leave the company.
