Cons
Unless you build a solid network of support for your advancement, you are on your own and will be amoung the first individuals to be considered expendable. In other words, expect to receive your pink slip first. It's sink or swim. If you are not a good politician or are not in a position to do so as necessary, expect to be thrown a brick if you are sinking.
