Pros

IKEA Stoughton has a lot of great products and great employees. The benefits are good (including discount) and they do strive to create good work-life balance for their employees. This is a good company to work for if you are just looking for a part time job to supplement your income, are only working for fun, or just doing this for the short-term (like while finishing school, for example).

Cons

As with many large organizations, IKEA struggles to maintain employee morale and job satisfaction over the long-term. There are very limited opportunities for advancement, and a fair amount of bureaucratic nonsense to deal with. If you choose to work for this company, be prepared to accept things the way they are. It is unlikely that you will be able to turn your position there into your dream career unless you are being hired directly into a position you are truly passionate about. People who work here long term start to feel devalued and begin to doubt their own skills and abilities and what they can actually contribute to the workforce. I know more than a handful of people who either suffered a mental/emotional breakdown from working here and/or left angry. Leaving was one of the best things I've done for myself. I feel so much better about myself and my life now that I have a boss who values my abilities and contribution to the business.

Pros

I have a very empathetic and flexible manager. Although I do meet the requirement to be in office three days a week many others do not and don’t seem to suffer for it. My work can be challenging at times, but due to the slow pace of most things here I rarely feel overwhelmed.

Cons

This is, without equivocation, the most sclerotic organization I have ever been a part of. The management structure and reporting lines are inscrutable and even after 3 years I barely understand how my team fits into the larger picture. My job is a data role, and although getting access to data has improved somewhat, it is still one of my biggest blockers.
