Pros

I've been working at this company for four years, the first three as a CSP, and now as a First year Tax Pro. Over all I like it, the company is very supportive of my education as a tax pro and even pays for my PTIN and Oregon Tax Preparer's license.

Cons

Compensation for first year tax pros isn't that great, I'm only earning $11/hour, with no commission, the same as when I worked as a CSP last year. You don't start getting a good paycheck until your second year as a tax pro. Also we are constantly being compared to what we did on the same day last year, and woe if we don't meet or exceed our target! Even though my office has always met its goals at the end of the tax season it's the day to day monitoring that really gets annoying. Also it is not uncommon for me to be scheduled seven days a week, give them an inch and they'll give you a mile.

Pros

If you get in the right office you can have amazing coworkers and can learn so much. You can gain a ton of experience and knowledge if you are willing to work and collaborate with other preparers. Training is robust and is there for you to utilize and work your way up to higher salary. The potential to earn a full years salary working for half the year once trained up to a higher level and build your book of business.

Cons

Communication is often not the best and in the offseason you are off boarded or get reduced salary and only work a day or two a week
