Pros

The pros list is slim anymore. If you have no skills, start out as a seasonal and enjoy the two months off. Then, maybe you'll transition into an "associate" level position where you'll learn some worthwhile skills. Learn those skills...but leave Block and find a company that will treat you humanely.

Cons

So many...if you don't get and use their Emerald Card prepaid debit card, they'll fire you. If you don't do your taxes with them, they'll fire you. If you don't get your time corrections in by the end of the pay period, they'll fire you. Bill Cobb, this jerk of a man that runs us into the ground, also known as the CEO, sends out stacks of threats against employees. He's a tyrant who is laying off all of the workforce so he can pad his severance check before he's sent along on his way. He treats employees like they don't matter. His business leaders treat employees like they don't matter. Oh, and if you are seasonal, you don't matter at all. You don't get a raise, you don't get benefits, you don't get holiday pay, you don't get vacation, you don't get respect...you get nothing. Find another job. This company is trash.

Pros

If you get in the right office you can have amazing coworkers and can learn so much. You can gain a ton of experience and knowledge if you are willing to work and collaborate with other preparers. Training is robust and is there for you to utilize and work your way up to higher salary. The potential to earn a full years salary working for half the year once trained up to a higher level and build your book of business.

Cons

Communication is often not the best and in the offseason you are off boarded or get reduced salary and only work a day or two a week
