Pros

As the title suggests, I’m a recent joiner of Capco and given I read several reviews on this site before applying, thought only right I leave a review of my experience. Before joining Capco, I was a long term permanent member of staff at one of the major banks. While this was enjoyable, I knew I needed a fresh challenge and right from the Job Advertisement, Capco seemed to be what I was looking for. After years in a ‘traditional’ bank, the most important thing for me was the culture and during a couple of visits to the Edinburgh office and meeting a few employees (doing the interviews), I could tell even then I liked the atmosphere, environment and general ‘feel’ of the place. So, having been in Financial Services for over 15 years I can say that Capco is clearly somewhere a bit more dynamic, where the work will be challenging and varied, where there is a culture of opportunity and learning and more importantly, everyone is supportive and everyone’s voice is heard equally …and coming from a traditional big bank, I’m amazed already at the access to Snr. Management and their willingness to engage.

Cons

This is more of a concern really, but hope that the culture and ‘feel’ of Capco that attracted me isn’t eroded when: a) I find myself on a client site (and start to go native) and b) Capco continues to recruit to meet growth strategy

Firstly, welcome to the Capco team and thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We are delighted to have you on-board and to hear that you feel that you have made the right decision in joining Capco. Many employees join us having worked in the banking sector and so it is fantastic to hear your personal experience and how you have found the transition to working at Capco. There is definitely lots of opportunities to progress your career in the firm, to continue your personal development and to take an active role in shaping the firm. The leadership team remains committed to fostering Capco's unique culture as we grow and evolve as a firm. This is something which our CEO has reiterated at numerous events and remains a key focus. In addition, there are a wealth of Capco communities as well as our internal networking platform and I would encourage you to make use of all of these, so that you can remain connected with Capco, even when working on client site. If at any time you have any questions, suggestions or specific concerns, please reach out to your Coach, HR Business Partner or the UK HR Lead, Amy Clark. Welcome once again to Capco!

Pros

Varied client work — Different clients and project types, which keeps things interesting. Real project mobility — You can move between projects when you advocate for yourself (within reason). Approachable leadership — Senior leaders are open to conversations if you reach out. Good development resources — Plenty of training and growth opportunities if you take advantage of them. Strong teams — Colleagues are smart, capable, and great to work with. Entrepreneurial environment — New ideas are encouraged, and there’s room to take initiative.

Cons

Long hours vary by project — Like most any professional job, some engagements require extended hours for prolonged periods, but work–life balance really depends on the client and team. Additional internal responsibilities — Depending on level, there can be a significant amount of firm‑support work outside of client delivery. Domain alignment not guaranteed — You may not always be staffed on projects that match your domain expertise. Coaching alignment constraints — Coaching relationships are tied to domain, which limits flexibility in choosing formal mentors. Long engagements (sometimes) — Some projects run for long durations or through multiple extensions. It can provides stability but may reduce variety in client and project experience depending on what you’re looking for.
