Pros

Amazon is a global giant that occasionally uses its resources to make employees feel that their work is valued. The company offers better-than-most healthcare benefits to both part time and full time employees, offering essentially free vision and dental care very early on to seasonal employees, if used intelligently. Amazon also, despite popular belief, is a company that does promote internally. This does require an employee to be not only motived and excel in their given position, however. To grow a career with Amazon, it is necessary to to be vocal with leadership and not only do your job well - but to integrate your efforts, your goals, even your name into the leadership above you. Even the most effective workers should not expect to advance without *asking* for opportunities to do so! Along with benefits, the $15.00 minimum wage is at worst a fair pay scale, especially in the Midwest. If you are a competent and motivated part time worker who feels they do not get enough work hours in the week, it is easy to communicate with leadership and learn new facility skills to stay longer and increase your weekly hour-rate.

Cons

Entry level, part time, workers at Amazon Fulfillment Centers are expected to be on their feet and often repeat monotonous labor for 2-6 hours depending on shift availability and cross-training. It can sometimes be difficult to perform a 30 hour week without back and joint pain. Always remember to wear shoes that can withstand the labor and always practice safe lifting techniques. Excelling at your job does not equal recognition, appreciation, or benefits. These bonuses can occur, but rarely without being a communicative employee. As a personal aside/disadvantage, as this review is being written as the COVID-19 protocols are still in place, it can be frustrating to know a global industry leader such as Amazon can fall short of benefiting their employees to genuinely bring them comfort and a sense of appreciation. For a short while, all associates (in all roles) received a $2.00/hour added bonus, as risk factors for covid are still quite serious. For this same span, holiday pay was brought up from 1.5x to 2x. These changes lasted a mere 6-8 weeks - whilst employees of all sorts still encounter the same added safety measure, mask requirements, and social distancing. The lingering question with the good and the bad considered really is: how much does amazon *truly* respect those they employee? That I will leave up to you!

Pros

Really smart people, a lot of opportunity for growth, always encouraged to be innovative, think big, and create something new. Competitive salary and benefits with other major tech companies. 100% self motivating work environment. No dress code and 4 legged friends are welcome.

Cons

You have to be self motivated. NO ONE will hold your hand and tell you that you're doing a great job. If you need constant affirmations from management, this company isn't for you.
