Onboarding experience is substandard. They basically bring you on, hand you a computer, and tell you to work on one of their many legacy applications. Nobody really checks on you. There is no diversity in tech. Expect to be in meetings with people having sidebar conversations in different languages. This wouldn’t be a problem if it were lunch time, or maybe if I weren’t the ONLY one on the team who did not speak the language. The issue is simply it’s hard to feel like you belong when the culture there is not diverse or inclusive.
If you work in tech and happen to be from India, you will probably like it here, as my interactions with employees were generally pleasant, However I got the impression that nobody “really” wanted to show me things, or help me. It’s hard to feel like you’re apart of a team when people are speaking their language in meetings or collaborative work efforts, when EVERYONE speaks that language except you.
Not a big deal. I took my talents elsewhere shortly after joining and I couldn’t be happier.
