Pros
A meal a day (snacks are now not part of the Nightshift rotation anymore) RA contribution Minimal medical aid contributions Low salary increases
Cons
Shares are taxed on the sale and then again on your salary - make it math? Poor to putrid to horrible to nonexistent management High staff turn over We are loosing more people than what we can gain HR has a nonchalant attitude to the welfare of the staff unless it's a Sexual harassment case (we'll, "allow" a lot just not another sexual harassment scandal) Top Management makes changes and enforces it - if you question it you are told "no one's asking you to stay". HR will pay you for one skill and not recognise all the skill and knowledge you gained because you're not the one they know or prefer "if you're not happy - you may leave" TOXIC CULTURE I once thought this company is the Top Tier but that has quickly disappeared. Multiple resignations on a daily basis, retrenchments galore - people working in fear of not knowing if they'll be next on the hit list for retrenchment. Multiple jobs up for offer - minimal successful applications. Department faces have remained the same, for the longest time Upper management seems to be the only people who get promoted - buddy buddy.

Company headed down hill.
Mar 10, 2023 - Senior Web Developer in Cape TownRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Free food twice a day if you work late. Bonuses once a year if you're not in the top 25% of earners. Otherwise you get stock.
Cons
Free overtime, have to chase down HR or Senior management to get any sort of compensation to the point it's 6 months later and still nothing. Promotions with low salary increases. "Standby" allowing them to call you 24/7, 2am, 4am to jump online and sort out anything they want you to. HR doesn't respond half of the time. Senior management is non existent, they all sit in there own bubbles and won't even great you. A lot of people doing nothing, but showing up getting paid and all the work shifts to the people pushing out work. Pay differential, seniors earn less than some intermediates. Juniors earn more than intermediates. So you end up with everyone asking why and you get told. (It's how much you asked for when you came in) - even if you've been extremely loyal for years, grew and made big things happen. It's all about what you came in with. Hardwork doesn't matter to DOS. DOS only cares about numbers and promoting their internal groups.

Pros
There is a lot to learn. Free food which is really good.
Cons
Digi has completely lost the plot, they were once a company I was proud to be associated with but sadly that is no longer the case. David left a Gap that some thought they could fill but its clear nobody is capable of doing that. Upper Management needs work, there are a selected few that are going to completely destroy what once was an amazing company.

Retrenchments due to bad leadership
Feb 28, 2023 - Software Developer in Cape TownRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
If you sell you soul to unethical practices, you'll achieved a position in executive leadership. You'll have the opportunity to promote all of your cadre who have acted in the same manner to secure your role through self praise and those who you keep close. You will have the opportunity to knock off each day at a reasonable hour while the teams that build a once successful business stay behind to mop up poor performing systems built on legacy code. The best perc of all is: the harder you work, the 'more opportunity and responsibility' you are given without more compensation. The powerless false promises are real.
Cons
I get to wake up and sit in Cape Town traffic 3 days per week (hybrid policy), and best of all is when I'm sick or on leave on an office day, I need to 'catch up' on those lovely office days. They don't replace those who resign so the work piles up with the impossible expectation that you must simply get it done.
Continue readingWe really are sorry to have seen you go, and that you have obviously left with a bitter taste in your mouth. It is an undeniable fact that every business needs to constantly grow revenue and reduce costs – this is the price of doing business in a competitive market. It also lands on senior management with the support of HR to make these business decisions and steer the ship, drive the car, or any other analogy that works for you. That being said, they cannot increase revenue or reduce costs alone, it falls on every single individual in any business to help achieve what should be a common goal, in order to ensure a sustainable future for all stakeholders. To quote Maya Angelou: “do the best you can until you know better. Then when you know better, do better”. So we thank you for this feedback, and will strive to do better.

Pros
the Cons severely outlay the "Pros". I guess getting 1 free meal in office is a pro, but if they paid their employees more they wouldn't need to provide a free meal.
Cons
- Upper management and HR rule the business with an iron fist. It's their way or nothing. The staff's input or suggestions are never heard. The company doesn't care about a healthy work/life balance (even if they say they do). - Over 150 being affected by retrenchment, that happened at moments notice. Overall moral at DOS is at a all time low. -Staff are scared to voice their concerns to management or HR. - Staff are continuously reminded that if they "don't like it" they can find a different job.

Pros
The company has been okay in the most part helping develop young talent and workers providing endless opportunity to grow.
Cons
Company is currently on the decline in terms of workers as they have loss trust with workers with the new changes being rolled out.

No pros, apparently it's the free food but I'm not convinced.
Cons
So many, the list is endless. You have the most insane micro management, quite literally managers watching your status on the chat system and putting you online if your status is away/dnd while your on shift but not on break, this is even while you're on chat. Either that or messaging you or coming over to your desk to ask you why you are not online, you have zero freedom to manage your own workload or know what's good for you and your customers who you're on chat with. They don't care if your overwhelmed in the moment bc you have hectic queries, no they just want you to always be at capacity with chats. TLs and management are as toxic as it gets, TLs have zero original thoughts, they just enforce whatever management says, the same management who knows nothing about being on chat and working the systems. TLs will rather complain amongst each other and to hosts but then smile and agree with their managers instead of voicing their teams disagreements. In order to be a TL you need to be a suckup and say dumb things like "manage your toilet breaks". HR is super toxic so it all makes sense, an HR representative quite literally said that when we signed on to be hosts we did away with a work life balance and maybe we need new roles if we unhappy with the new shifts, this was in a meeting about the sudden changes in night shifts, she's now an HRBP TL so that tells you a lot. They promise you growth in your screening call and induction but there's literally been no growth, hosts have been applying but are still stuck in the csc space. They threaten you with "honest conversations" everything is an honest convo, don't meet expectations for 1 day you get an honest convo. Nvm the fact that you quite literally always meet and exceed the expectations but maybe had 1 bad day because the systems which are always broken were especially broken, or you weren't feel well. The honest conversations are tracked and apparently contribute to your bonus at the end of the year so it's not like it means nothing. There's no grace or respect extended to hosts, you are always in the wrong, that you're avoiding work etc. Management does not do well with critique or feedback from hosts, they are also bad at communicating, you're simply informed about changes, you have no input even though you're the employee most affected and with the most experience doing that job. There's no respect for your free time. You have to attend 2hr team meetings, business updates and upskilling during your off time. You'll have an 8hr shift but then have to either come in earlier or stay later to attend team meetings and no you do not receive additional pay. If you don't attend then you'll have an honest convo. I quite literally cannot think of any positives, besides the team members you may have who make working at Digi a little bearable. The company and CSC department has no respect or appreciation for hosts, we do our best considering we working with crappy glitchy systems, slow computers, toxic management and customers who are unhappy with the product but there's zero appreciation, only an Energade and chocolate or lays now and then. Hosts who come on here and say 4 or 5/5 must be paid actors bc no way do you work in the CSC department and think hmm it's so nice here 5/5, can never be true.
