    Cons

-Weekly timesheets. These aren't strictly questioned and are meant more for a high level view of how the team is spending it's time. Can get tedious though. -The downside of a relaxed work environment means it can get noisy in the office. Need a good set of noise cancelling headphones.

    Advice to Management

When the cons aren't really that bad it goes to show just keep doing what you are doing!

I have been working at Cvent full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    - Great team of smart and driven people willing to help others grow - Cool products, tech stacks, opportunities to drive change and make an impact - Awesome variety of work in the role (non-customer facing support, automation/integration/load testing, internal tooling development and code tracing, error logging, database optimization and scripting, site reliability, etc.) - Solid perks (advancement, compensation..., benefits, flexible hours, work from home policies, travel to headquarters and other offices) - Impressive reach as the leader in the event management space globally and our level of clients, despite being somewhat lesser known as a company in the area

    Cons

    - Time sheets are a bit of a pain - Very rare, but availability of others in different time zones to get a hold of certain teammates - Also rare on-call coverage or high priority event monitoring a few times a year

    Advice to Management

    - Keep doing what you're doing in showing passion and listening to employees' asks

I have been working at Cvent full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Great and approachable management for the most part. Reggie and rest of executives and directors are great and passionate. This may depend on the group and location you work with, but my experience is that managers are very open, transparent and approachable. Good benefits and pay, at least in the tech side of things. Cvent is by far the leader in the space, so pretty secure company to work for. Interesting... products and potential for future growth. They're a selling machine. Great culture and friendly people.

    Cons

As the company has grown significantly over the past 3 years, it has doubled in size practically, increasingly "the process" is becoming more important than building great products to serve customers. Everything revolves around "metrics" and about making sprints and deliverables look good to upper management and creating proper tickets and following flows and alike. You spend so much time in planning meetings and... just doing process related activities, yet you're expected to still meet your commitments and perform. There is only one hard problem in computer science... Timesheets! The timesheet application we use is terrible. Technical decisions seem to be made by a handful of people at the top and the approach is very top down. Some of the people use appeal to (their own) authority to validate technical decisions rather than give logical reasons why things are done a certain way. A lot of technical attitude and approach is very much "old school enterprise-y". You'll see old style Java and .NET everywhere. The company does not really enable teams to dictate their own approaches or provide them with the tools and power to research different technologies. There is not a lot of room for exploration outside of the core R&D team which seems very narrow minded. Without going into too much details, similarly some of the the technical architecture, organization and and some of the internal tooling is old and the approach and process taken is slow, which has actual productivity and developer experience implications. Some of the tools we use internally have reached or are approaching EOL, yet we still haven't migrated to newer versions. A lot of time and resources are spend building things in-house that are not part of the core business and when significantly better and relatively cheap solutions are available from 3rd parties that have already solved the problem properly.

    Advice to Management

Remove barriers to productivity. Empower and enable teams to dictate their own approach and path to success. Update internal tooling and process.

I have been working at Cvent full-time for less than a year

    Pros

    - Get to work with a lot of talented people and modern technologies to build some cool stuff that gets used by customers all over the world. - Flexible work hours that allow you to work the way you want to work. - Salary better than most places in Fredericton. - Managers are helpful but let you work independently.

    Cons

Sometimes things can move slowly, but compared to other companies this size it's not that bad. No major cons of this office.

I have been working at Cvent full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Leader in the space Technology department is treated very well Senior Management results oriented As of 2016, much better work-life balance than years prior You can be very successful here, but you need to make an effort to develop relationships Technology hires get top-of-the-line MacBook Pro Retina laptops

    Cons

Some policies (travel, etc) may seem cheap. But, the company's (positive) performance does have a direct impact on the employee. Sometimes you run into old practices, but generally the Technology team is open to change

    Advice to Management

Keep listening to your employees! In the less than 2 years I've been with Cvent, things have changed immensely (for the better). Work/life balance, benefits, etc, are much better now.
