My time at Common Room was unfortunately marked by an extremely toxic work culture. If you're considering a role in Sales or Customer Success, I strongly advise you to think twice. The CEO regularly berates team members, creating an environment of fear and instability. Job security is a constant question mark, and threats of termination are used as a management tactic. Micromanagement is the norm — you're not empowered to do your job, you're told exactly how to do it under pressure. Everything is treated like a fire drill. There's zero planning or stability. You’ll be pinged at all hours of the night and expected to respond immediately — boundaries are not respected. People are burnt out and leaving constantly, particularly in Sales, which has seen a revolving door of talent. Common Room might be a good fit for someone in engineering who thrives in chaos, but for Sales and CS — it's not worth your health or sanity.

At this rate, they’ll have to start pulling resumes from a time machine. Looking for a workplace where your skills are ignored, your ideas dismissed, and your hard work disrespected? Congratulations, you’ve found the perfect hellhole. Love being trapped in endless, pointless "quick syncs" that accomplish nothing because everything is an "emergency"? If you thrive in chaos and dysfunction, you’ll feel right at home. If working under leaders with zero leadership skills, zero vision, and a talent for running a company straight into the ground sounds appealing, you’re going to have the time of your life. Their micromanagement and knee-jerk reactions are practically an art form. Want to give up your evenings, weekends, and any hope of a personal life just to feel like you’re treading water in an endless backlog? You’ll love it here. Oh, and don’t get too attached to the product. The team behind it consistently overpromises, under-delivers, and leaves customers frustrated and disengaged. Low adoption isn’t just a problem—it’s the entire brand. Unless you invented Facebook Marketplace, or enjoy the soul-crushing monotony of being stuck in a toxic, thankless environment, do yourself a favor and keep looking.
